Easter cards, April 1973
For the year 1973, we are viewing some of the handmade Easter cards sent by Medical Mission Sisters, serving at Holy Family Hospital, Rawalpindi, Pakistan. During the time of the hospital’s handover to local administration, the cards were sent to the Society’s founder, Anna Dengel, in April 1973.
One card features dried flowers from the region, the other was sent by Sister Marguerite Petit. The cover of this card reads: ‘Happy Easter to Mother! Every new flower gives us the message of new Hope!’
The card comes with a handwritten message that states: “Mother, before I left Pindi, we made a resolution with the sisters: instead of worrying about Pindi, we will every day say together in spirit a “Memorare” for Pindi! Would you like to join us? With much love, your grateful, Sister Marguerite”
The Memorare is a prayer that reminds us of the wonderful protection we have in Mary, Mother of God.
The message was well received by Anna Dengel, who added her own handwritten words: “I said: I would. A.D.”
Opposite you can listen to the Easter Song, composed by Sister Miriam Therese Winter:
